With 23 goals after 7 games in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund attack is the most effective this season. Although the Black and yellow’s offense players take few shots towards the goal, they seem to need less chances to score so far in the Bundesliga. Is it a Lucien Favre’s trademark?
Borussia Dortmund scored 23 goals in the first 7 games of the Bundesliga this season. Thus attaining an average of 3.28 goals per game. Moreover, their scoring opportunities have a 46% success rate. According to German magazine Kicker, only Eintracht Frankfurt are close to Borussia Dortmund’s record of success rate at 42.9%. However, the Frankfurt home team scored only 12 goals so far this season.
So is the Borussia Dortmund attack creating more chances that any team of the Bundesliga? Not really, FC Bayern created 55 chances while RB Leipzig executed 54, more than Borussia Dortmund’s 50 opportunities. However, the success rate of both these teams is weaker than Borussia Dortmund’s, Leipzig took advantage of 29.6% while Bayern converted on 21.8% to goals.
Borussia Dortmund attack score every 4th shot at goal!
With 92 shots at goal so far this season, Borussia Dortmund are ninth in the league in the shooting department. This shows that the German giants are very patient in front of the goal. However, every 4th shot is a goal. In the area, Borussia Dortmund are leaders in the league ahead of Frankfurt at a ratio of 5.2.
Such data can be considered non-consequential in regards to the number of games played, however, Lucien Favre’s signature style is all about only seeking a shot on goal if the chance is highly promising.
Paco Alcacer, Borussia Dortmund attack leader
Paco Alcacer seemed to have found his flow with Borussia Dortmund. The Spaniard sharpshooter shows an even scarier statistic in regards to Borussia Dortmund attack efficiency. It took Alcacer 81 minutes of game time in 3 matches to score 6 goals. And the outstanding fact is, he only took 10 shots at goal.
So how are these stats going to help Borussia Dortmund win titles this season? This might allow Lucien Favre to focus more on the defense which has been a weakness in the Dortmund squad in the last seasons. He will also be able to keep all players in the momentum of big games by rotating key players. For now, we can only wish that Borussia Dortmund keep their actual form to win the Bundesliga title.
